On the morning of May 9, 2019, the China-Japan eel trade conference was held in Xiamen. The meeting was chaired by Xu Yuanhong, director of eel branch of China Food, Native Animal Import and Export Chamber of Commerce (hereinafter referred to as the Earth Eating Chamber of Commerce). Vice President Yu Lu of the Earth Eating Chamber of Commerce and Director of Japanese eel import group Morishan Qiao delivered speeches. Over 70 representatives of China and Japan attended the meeting.

Industry representatives from China and Japan exchanged views on eel seedling entering pond, eel production and export volume forecast, processing eel sales in the Japanese market and eel resource protection in this year. Regarding the protection of eel resources, Vice President Yu Lu introduced the strict management of fishing ban and severe punishment for violators. He also appealed to both sides to put the protection of eel resources in the first place, assume corporate responsibility, strengthen industry self-discipline and ensure the sustainable development of the industry.。

On the afternoon of May 8, the eel branch of the Chamber of Commerce held its eighth Second Council meeting. The meeting thoroughly analyzed the challenges faced by eel export and discussed how to take effective measures to improve industry self-discipline.
